Rules

Open-access

Your integrated circuit will be made available on our website. Others will be able to see your design and build upon your ideas.

Production

We will decide which designs will be manufactured. If your design has been chosen, you will receive a few copies of your packaged chip. We will measure the performance of your IC in our lab, and you will receive a copy of our findings later on. The measurement reports will be published on this website as well, such that designers can learn from one another.

Copyright

You are only allowed to submit a design that you made by yourself. You are free, however, to reuse ideas, structures, schematics or any other form of information that is provided to you by others and that is not copyrighted.

Language

The software tools that we can help you with are available in English only. Furthermore, most of the jargon of the field is English. So it is highly advised to join the project only if you speak at least some basic English. Communication regarding the project can be done in English, Dutch, stonecoal French or Limburgish.

Software

If you require any assistance using the software, there are a few tools that we are familiar with. Currently, the free tools that we are familiar with are Xschem, QUCS, Magic, KLayout, and Netgen. Help with the licensed software package Cadence can also be arranged. If you want to use licensed software like Cadence, you have to obtain a license by your own means. We cannot provide you with one.

Analog and Mixed-Signal Designs Only

Our research group specializes in analog and mixed-signal integrated
circuits. Purely digital designs are very different from analog
circuits; we simply have more expertise regarding analog circuits.

Chip requirements

The ICs will be produced by Efabless, and therefore have to adhere to this company’s terms and conditions. The area available for your design is 2.9 by 3.5 mm, roughly 10 mm2. Furthermore, you have send us your design before June 1st 2023, such that we have some time to check it before the Efabless deadline.

Damage

We are not responsible for damaged done to your computer that were caused by third-party software. We are also not responsible for damages done by your IC if used outside its preset boundary conditions.
